“Who ya gonna draw?” – My Ghostbusters Sketchcards

Hey, gang-

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I got a few Ghostbusters items, including the new “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” art book.

Nicki and I got to see the film at the drive-in here on opening weekend.

Over my Christmas break I decided to draw a couple sketchcards from some of the photos in the book on some of my personal sketchcards.

First up was a Mini-Puft. I started off with an HB pencil on

Broke out my Copic markers for color. Up first were some of my grays.

Then worked in some greens for the background.

Then used some reds, browns, and blues for the details.

Line-work was done with a black Pigma Micron pen. I usually ink with an 03 pen.

Used a white Gelly Roll pen and white Prismacolor pencil for the highlights.

Final Mini-Puft sketchcard.

Similarly, for the Muncher sketchcard I started off with an HB pencil. I’ve been sketching more with the wooden pencils- sometimes with an H lead to rough in the sketch. Occasionally I’ll use a click-pencil- usually an .05mm lead.

Used my gray Copic markers to flesh-out the newest ghost in the Ghostbusters franchise.

Layered the colors with some blue/greens, red/pinks, and ‘fleshtones’. Used a darker grey for the background.

Like the Mini-Puft, I used a Pigma Micron for inking in the details. I may have used both an 03 and and an 01 on this one.

I used a white Gelly Roll pen to draw in some hairs and went back over them with an aqua marker. Did more highlights and shading with the Gelly Roll pen and white Prismacolor pencil

Finished Muncher sketchcard.

.

I’ll be doing more Ghostbusters sketchcards, and if I was gonna be drawn  out of retirement to do another sketchcard set, the Ghostbusters franchise is on the short list.

You’ll be able to purchase my latest sketchcards (including some new Topps Star Wars: The Mandalorian official artist returns) soon at a comic shop here in Memphis- The Cellar.

Thanks!✏️
