Orpheum Auction

This past Saturday Nicki and I headed downtown to the Orpheum Theater for their annual auction.

The auction is the Orpheum Theatre and Memphis Development Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser,  and includes live and silent auctions and a car raffle.

Nicki and I were greeted at the door by the Shrek crew who were there to promote the upcoming performance of ” Shrek: The Musical” in January.

As usual, the Orpheum looked amazing. It really is a local treasure.

But unfortunately we didn’t see Mary- the Orpheum’s resident ghost anywhere in the theater.

There was a great turnout of live foks- and lots of good food, drinks, and sights to enjoy.

We got to see some things up close like the Orpheum’s organ.

We got to go on stage.

As well as backstage where there were mini murals for each of the Orpheum productions.

Les Nicki!

Many of the silent auction items like these hand painted canvas chairs were backstage.

Some of the donated art in the silent auction.

Nicki and me with my donated airbrushed painting of Vincent Price.

The painting is 30″x40″ and brought in $200 for the auction.

The Orpheum’s Pat Halloran (author of “Where Broadway Meets Beale”) and the 2010 Raffle for Artreach.

All proceeds from the raffle benefit The Orpheum Theater’s education and community programs.

Looking forward to next year!
