DeSoto Arts Council Winter Show and Sale

This Sunday I’ll be a part of the DeSoto Arts Council Winter Show and Fine Arts Sale reception- live music, wine, food, unique holiday gifts and of course ART.

The reception is the best time to get a chance to meet and talk to the artists themselves.

I’ll be doing an airbrush demonstration during the opening reception and will have two paintings in the show.

DeSoto Arts has on its roster over 200 artists from the North Mississippi and the Memphis areas.

Other DeSoto Arts points of interest…

The GalleryDeSoto Arts permanent gallery houses local art, a gift shop and is maintained 3 days a week by a loyal volunteer staff.

The Shed:  Music is a big part of DeSoto Arts.  This outdoor venue hosted a free summer music concert series sponsored by Siemens.

Best of 2010:  DeSoto County Photographers Club Amateur photographers exhibit their best work and the winners of their annual photo contest.

Spring Art & Autism ShowDAC first hosted this exhibit in Spring of 2010.  The Dockery Family Foundation supports workshops for autistic children and young teens.  DeSoto Arts gives them gallery space to have a real art show/reception.  This is a great opportunity for the public to see what these kids can do, and how it affects their lives.

The DeSoto Arts Council is located at 660 West Commerce Street, Hernando, Mississippi 38632

Directions from Memphis- go south on I-55 or Hwy 51, turn right on Commerce and go west through the Square and past the library.

The “Art House” is on the right about two blocks past the historic Hernando Courthouse Square.

The Winter Show and Fine Arts Sale will continue through March 12th, 2011.

Gallery hours are Thur/Fri/Sat 10am-5pm/. Admission is free and open to the public.

Hope to see you there!
