Well, gang- the art show was a success!
It started off a bit slow, but after 7pm it picked up and stayed busy until it was time to close the doors at 10pm and start getting ready to go home for the night.
Lots of folks showed up and had a great time. Lots of friends, family, and new faces.
Many said they heard about it from the Commercial Appeal (thanks, John!) and Memphis Flyer write-ups (which were AWESOME!), the posters and cards at the Art Center and/or libraries (thanks Mama Howe!), and I saw several folks I recognized from the Broad Avenue Art Walk a few weeks earlier. Nicki and I have also noticed a good bit of web traffic coming from the HauntedWeb.com site (thanks Patrick!).
An old buddy from High School (Jim Medlin- above) made a rare public appearance with his sister Leann and our friend Lynn Field’s daughter Laurean.
Nicki had some of her co-workers stop by, and we even had Jerry “The King” Lawler stop by to check out the show with a friend who’s an intern at the Brooks Museum. I talked Sivad (our local horror host when I was growing up) with Jerry and John Biefuss from the Commercial Appeal.
I also had a couple comic book artist buddies, Dean Zachary and Jim Hall (with wife Christina) stop by to celebrate Jim’s birthday. Eddy Zeno (author of “Curt Swan: A Life In Comics) was also able to attend.
Lots of folks dressed up for the event!
Funny thing, that weekend after the show I thought Halloween was over!
Thanks to everyone that helped and attended- cheers!
